Visitors to a Barrow community centre enjoyed a breakfast serenade courtesy of a quartet of classical musicians from a world-renowned orchestra.
Ormsgill Community Centre welcomed a special pop-up concert from the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra as part of a weekend of performances across the town which included dementia-friendly and under 5’s shows at Barrow Library and further pop-up performances at Abbey Road Baptist Church, Parkview Gardens Care Home and The Forum foyer.
At Ormsgill, the quartet played a 45 minute set of classical favourites including and one of the visitors received a special birthday surprise with a rendition of When I’m 64.
The performances formed part of the Orchestra’s three-year residency partnership with the Forum.
Strategic Lead Community Hubs Kelly Alty said: “Ormsgill Community Hub provides so many opportunities for the local community to get involved and take part in a range of activities at the centre, but to have the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra in attendance has been a fantastic addition. Bringing the musicians into the heart of our communities ensures that everyone is able to benefit by building connections and experiencing something new.”
