Winner of the Royal Philharmonic Society’s 2024 Instrumentalist of the Year Award, Jasdeep Singh Degun was born in Leeds, but his music evokes whole worlds, and his sitar playing… well, let’s just say that it has to be heard to be believed. Tonight at The Forum he joins the Orchestra and tabla virtuoso Harkiret Bahra to perform his own sitar concerto Arya – a lyrical, brilliantly imaginative tale of different musical cultures, united by a willingness to explore, and (above all) by the spirit of song. Carrying this spirit, children from Barrow primary schools also join with the Orchestra for a special performance.
